GPS Monitoring Investigations

When a concerned parent wishes to be apprised of their child’s whereabouts and/or assure they are  driving safely, or when there is suspicion of a spouse’s faithfulness, you have options. One such option is the responsible and legal use of GPS devices.

A GPS (Global Positioning System) device can allow someone to determine the position of a vehicle along with its traveling speed. This data may be retrieved from either a central database, or an internet connected computer. The data may then be map displayed in real time or as a review of past movement.

Our investigators have found the use of GPS tracking to be a vital resource and aid in numerous investigations, which allows for the collection of data during mobile surveillance, especially helpful when an individual cannot be properly or safely followed.

     Specific use examples:
  • Teen Driver Fears – Most teenagers are secretive about what they are doing or where they are going. If a parent suspects dishonesty or is simply concerned for their child’s safety, and needs peace of mind, then they can get it. With a GPS investigation a parent can view the location and speed of their vehicle on their cell phone, in real time, or later print out a data report for review. The use of a GPS will also defeat a clever teen’s effort to circumvent phone based tracking methods.
  • Cheating Spouse/Significant Other – A GPS tracking device placed on a spouse or significant other’s vehicle can reconcile suspected false statements. Information gathered will show dates, times, and locations. This can be a cost saving technique to gather needed information, or a starting point for a more thorough investigation.
  • Employee Tracking – Business owners may need to monitor the use of company vehicles when employee misuse is suspected. When employees drive outside of company policy it may cost the company money and create unnecessary liability.

Montage Investigations currently leases out two types of vehicle tracking devices:
  • “Passive Device” – This device quietly records and stores location, speed, and time data without actively transmitting it in real-time. This data is retrieved for review on a Google Earth compatible map after the investigation.
  • “Real-Time Tracking Device” – This real-time device remains with the vehicle allowing you the luxury of monitoring its whereabouts live from your computer and cell phone or reviewing data points at a later time.
