Strategic Threat & Vulnerability Assessment

A threat assessment is the evaluation and assessment of the intentions of people who could pose a threat to your organization, how they might cause harm, and their ability and motivation to carry out harmful tasks, including active shooter, workplace violence or personal attacks.

Alternatively, a vulnerability assessment evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of an existing location, security system and personnel which may potentially be exploited by a known or unknown bad actor.

Threats may target both corporate and personal entities, and can be classified in four categories: direct, indirect, veiled, or conditional.

Four Elements of a Proactive Approach to Threat Assessment:
  • Identification
  • Assessment
  • Response
  • Recovery

Corporate or Residential Vulnerability Audit/Assessment
  • Security Assessment
  • Intelligence Investigations
  • Restricted Computer System (RCS) Audit
  • Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) Sweep
  • Security Personnel Review
  • Security Systems Response

For employers, with California’s SB-553 going into effect on July 1, 2024, the need to develop your own workplace violence (WPV) prevention plans as part of your Cal/OSHA Injury and Illness Prevention Plans is now of paramount concern. Employers may very well need to comply with this law, but there are financial reasons why a good threat assessment and WPV prevention plan should be in place. The assessment and implementation costs of a prevention plan are far less than the costs of a preventable incident within your business. Consider the aftermath of a shooting incident, including loss of work productivity, workers’ compensation claims, potential lawsuits, medical costs, counseling, damaged property, not to mention corporate image and brand damages.

It may be either your responsibility to provide a secure and safe working environment for your employees, or simply a personal necessity to protect your home and family interests. We would love to assist with such goals by providing a thorough threat and vulnerability assessment, along with a threat mitigation plan, to better prepare you for the unexpected dangers which bad actors present in this current climate.
